SÄLEN

This past week has been the sports holiday in Sweden. Everyone has a week off to do activities. I was lucky to have the chance to go to Sälen again with a friend's family for the whole week. We spent the week skiing, saua-ing, and just relaxing in general. It was a nice week.

I took ski school for 5 days which went really well, although I can't say that I'm a pro yet! It was below minus 20 degrees for 2 days, so that's why I look so silly in this picture! : ) Tomorrow morning, I'm back to school. I think it will be nice to get back to my life here.

Today was my younger host brother, Mattis' 13th birthday. Everyone woke up early to go upstairs to Mattis' room with a breakfast tray, and presents, while sing "Ja må du leva", the Swedish bitrhday song. Translated, "Yes, may you live". Everyone sings really loudly to wake up the birthday girl/boy and at the end of the song, finishes by shouting, "hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah". After singing, everyone sat around and ate warm scones (a birthday tradition in my host family), and watched Mattis open presents. My host mom's birthday is on Wednesday, and my dad's birthday was last week, so it's a birthday week for me!
